The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA yesterday faulted the recent Supreme Court judgment that declared Chief Chris Uba and Prince John Emeka winners in the last senatorial election conducted in Anambra South and Anambra North Senatorial zones respectively on grounds that it contravened sections 140 and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Discordant voices over Anambra community’s royal stool
Awka—THERE have been dissenting voices in Ezennaja-Amada village, Oraukwu, in Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, over the selection of the traditional ruler for the community. However, a section of Ezennaja-Amada has denied any rift over the choice of a candidate for the stool. Chief Ogoo Mmeni, Chairman of Ezennaja-Amada village, whose turn it is to produce the traditional ruler, said that contrary to insinuation in some quarters, there is no crisis in Oraukwu over the selection of the next traditional ruler of the town, adding that all the required processes for the selection have been carried out successfully.

AWKA—THE people of Nnaka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, last week, celebrated their late traditional ruler, Igwe Gilbert Nwabueze Ofomata, who ruled the community for 24 years before joining his ancestors on February 9, 2015. Igwe Ofomata, whose title was Obu Nanka of Nanka, was selected and crowned after recognition by the then Military Administrator of Anambra State, Navy Captain Joseph Abulu in 1991. In fact, he was among the first traditional rulers to be recognised after the new Anambra State was created.
