UBA, EMEKA: APGA faults S-Court judgment

By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA—The All  Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA yesterday faulted the recent Supreme Court judgment that declared Chief Chris Uba and Prince John Emeka winners in the last senatorial election conducted in Anambra South and Anambra North Senatorial zones respectively on grounds that it contravened sections 140 and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Addressing newsmen at the Government House,   Awka, the national publicity secretary of APGA, Chief Ifeanyi   Obi-Okoye said that  in line with the cited  Electoral Act Provisions, the People’s Democratic Party, had no lawful candidate in the last national and state Assembly elections and prayed the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare  the seats currently occupied by senators Andy Uba and Stella Odua vacant.

Alternatively, Obi-Okoye urged INEC to return the APGA candidates who came second in the elections as duly elected on the grounds that PDP did not present any candidate in the election.
