IN an emotion-laden voice that concealed his earlier confrontational stance, Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has appealed to Nigerians to turn out en masseday Oliseh has appealed to Nigerians to turn out en masse to cheer the Eagles in their must win Nations Cup cracker against the Pharaohs of Egypt on March 25, insisting that only a mammoth crowd will overwhelm the Egyptians.

Speaking on Brila Fm in an interview that portrayed him like one who had eaten the humble pie, Oliseh said that the massive fans that he saw watch Kano Pillars and Rangers League tie on Sunday could bring the Egyptians to their knees in the match in Kaduna.

‘’Let’s forget what has happened in the past. We’re Nigerians and must unite to ensure that our flag flutter both in the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. There is hope because the crowd that I saw in the Kano Pillars game with Rangers can overwhelm the Egyptians if they turn up in Kaduna. They ‘ll be playing the role of the 12th man on the pitch’’, he said.

He however reckoned that the Egyptians would have an advantage over his Eagles because majority of their players play in their domestic league.

‘’I have watched their tape and they are result-oriented. Their power lies in the midfield and defence and upfront, they have one Mohammed Saleh. He has speed and if unchecked, can be a spoiler. But we are Nigerians and are playing at home. We have our own players and a crowd that will play a part to bring them down. That is why I am appealing that every Nigerian should come together for us to ensure victory for our dear country’’, Oliseh who sparked controversy when he called his critics ‘’ insane’’ before apologising said.

The seven-time African Champions lead Nigeria’s Group  with six points from two matches, two points ahead of Nigeria with only the group winners guaranteed automatic qualification to the final tournament in Gabon.
