Okonjo-Iweala, others have High BP over economy

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi okonjo-Iweal, disclosed, Tuesday, that the task of managing the nation’s economy has given her, the Minister of State, Amb. Bashir Yuguda , the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Anastasia Daniel-Nwaobia and about 70 per cent of the ministry’s staff High Blood Pressure.

INEC presents certificates of return to 26 Ondo lawmakers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State, on Tuesday presented certificates of return to 26 members-elect of Ondo State House of Assembly. In his remark at the occasion, Mr Olusegun Agbaje INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in the state, urged the returning lawmakers and the newly elected members to work together for the development of the state.

Senate passes Violence against Persons (Prohibition) Bill

The Senate on Tuesday, passed Violence against Persons (Prohibition) Bill which seeks to prohibit female circumcision or genital mutilation, forceful ejection from home and harmful widowhood practices. The bill also prohibits abandonment of spouse, children and other dependents without sustenance, battery and harmful traditional practices.

Malaria: WDI facilitates free treatment in Alimosho

In a bid to reduce absenteeism from work and eliminate the scourge of malaria, Westfield Development Initiative, WDI a non-governmental orgainsation has offered free malaria treatment to the resident of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state. The programme which has over 700 people in attendance offer free malaria treatment, HIV/AIDs screening, blood pressure test, blood sugar tests, and free insecticide treated mosquito nets.
