The Nigeria Police on Thursday announced the death of a former Inspector-General of Police, Mr Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf. In a statement issued in Abuja by the force spokesman, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, Yusuf, aged 84, died on April 1. Late Yusuf was the third indigenous Inspector-General of Police and served between 1975 and 1979. He was seconded to the force as an Assistant Commissioner of Police in 1962 and rose to the position of Inspector-General of Police on July 30, 1975.
