Security chiefs pledge collaboration over elections in Ogun

ABEOKUTA—Three Security Chiefs in Ogun State, yesterday, pledged collaboration ahead of the coming general elections, assuring the people of the state of credible elections.

Both the state Police Commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu and the Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Brigadier-General, Muhammed Sanni paid a familiarization visit to the Comptroller of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Customs, Haruna Memudu in his office at the Idiroko Border.

Speaking after the meeting, Ntomchukwu tasked the Customs and all the other security agencies in the state with the successful conduct of the polls.

He said the police have sought the collaboration of the other security agencies in providing adequate security throughout the duration of the polls.

Ntomchukwu said it had become imperative for all the security agencies operating in the state to fully cooperate and collaborate with one another to ensure the successful conduct of the elections.

He said that such a cooperation would enable the security agencies to deliver on their mandate of securing lives and property, especially during the polls.

According to the police boss, the period of the elections demanded that all hands must be on deck regarding security during the polls.

Ntomchukwu noted that the focus of the international community was on Nigeria at this period, stressing that the security agencies could not afford to shirk in their responsibilities.

Responding, the Comptroller of the Ogun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs, Haruna Mohammed assured the police boss of the readiness of the customs and other para-military security agencies in the state to work together to provide security throughout the period of the polls.

Mohammed stated that the Customs and others would assist the police with the manpower available during the conduct of the polls.
