Federal Government has been urged to protect genuine poultry farmers from going under as their products are now constantly adulterated leading to lost of millions of naira in revenue earnings.

Speaking on adulteration of   frozen chickens, day-old chicks and table eggs of notable poultry farms in Ibadan, Oyo State, recently, the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) said for a long time, the adulterations and piracy of the farm products have been going on clandestinely in the affected companies.

The Director-General of PAN, Mr. Onello Akpa, disclosed that nemesis caught up with some of them in Ibadan recently, where they were arrested by the police.

He noted that though some of the accused and their kingpins (Names withheld) are still at large, but the police said they were determined to fish them out individually or collectively.

Their mode of operations, according to the PAN, was that the accused printed fake cartoons bearing Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited to sell their own unhealthy day-old chicks, hatched from their hatcheries in and around Oyo State which they brought to the popular Day Old Chicks Market, which is very close to Obasanjo Farms Limited at Oluyole, Ibadan, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
