Best and worst dresses of 2014

Ugonna Umeruo- AMVCA, 2014

This House Of Nwocha Avante-Garde themed dress is undisputed proof Nigerian red carpet designers have come of age. And Ugonna also pulled the outfit off – it is one thing for the outfit to be tailored to perfection and it is another thing for the celebrity to wear it well. She rocked it.

Zainab Balogun- AMAA Awards

The screen siren not only saved the day at the AMAA awards last year (you would think all stylists had gone on leave), she make good the term “less-is-more” with a simple black satin shift. Deceptively simple but effortlessly chic, there’s nothing better than a woman who knows how to accentuate her assets.

Tiwa Savage- BET Awards 2014

The beautiful Tiwa disgraced her stylist at the BET awards last year.

As with every other BET award, it was star studded and had a many Nigerians up for the nominations and amongst them was artist Tiwas Savage-Balogun. On her first ever BET Awards red carpet, Best International Act – Africa nominee Tiwa Savage rocked a navy blue floor-length sheer-top dress by Valery Kovalska. Her make-up was subtle and was done by Joyce Jacobs. She completed her look with pop’o’colour: pink lipstick, gold accessories and purse.

Clarion Chukwura- Amaa Awards, 2014

Rarely would you find a better combination of beauty, brains and talent as you would in veteran actress Clarion Chukwura, who got the well-deserved ‘best actress in a leading role’ award for her role in Emem Isong’s ‘Apaye’ in last year’s AMAA Awards in Bayelsa. If anything could have marred the moment, it was her dress, a one-arm number with thigh high slit.
