Abe, Sekibo, others emerge senatorial flag bearers in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT—Senator George Sekibo has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket for Rivers East senatorial district. He currently represents the senatorial district in the National Assembly.

He is to slug it out with Mr Andrew Uchendu of All Progressives Congress, APC, who represents Ikwerre/Emohua federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has cancelled the senatorial primary election for Rivers West.

It will be recalled that the exercise was disrupted Sunday evening by suspected thugs who stormed the venue to chase out delegates.

Olaka Worgu won the PDP ticket for the Rivers South-East senatorial district. He is to battle for the seat at the general polls with Senator Magnus Abe who currently represents the senatorial district in the Senate.

Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Otelemaba Dan-Amachree, won the APC ticket for Rivers West senatorial district. The PDP candidate for the senatorial election is likely to emerge within the week.

Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Mr Tony Okocha, is APC’s candidate for Obio/Akpor federal constituency. He is to slug it out with the present occupant, Mr Kingsley Chinda. Ken Chikere of the PDP who is the member representing Port Harcourt constituency 1, is to battle Mr Igo Aguma of the APC, who is a former member of the House of Representatives, for the position at the general polls.

Betty Apiafi, who represents Abua, Odua, Ahoada East federal constituency was returned by the PDP and she is to contest with Mr Andy Nwonye of the APC.

Blessing Nsiegbe who represents Port Harcourt federal constituency II, was returned by the PDP and she is to contest with Mr Collins Onwonda of the APC. Bright Gogo was re-elected by the PDP to contest for the Okrika,OguBolo federal constituency seat.

Elder Chidi Wiyioka of the APC is to contest the general polls for the Ikwerre Emohua federal constituency.
