Why I want to represent Edo North in the Senate—Lamai

THE National Coordinator of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP- Reloaded, Chief Richard Lamai, has formally declared his intention to contest the Edo North senatorial election on the platform of PDP in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking while presenting his letter of intent to the state PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, at the party’s state secretariat in Benin City, Lamai said he was seeking a Senate seat to represent the people of Edo North because he wants to provide visionary leadership that will galvanise the people and the abundant natural resources of the  area for  development.

He said,“My ambition is driven by the desire to provide a visionary leadership for the people of Edo North, so that the abundant human and natural resources of the area can be harnessed for development. Edo North has not been lucky with quality representation since 1999, this is what I want to change and that is why I’m in the race.”

Lamai promised that if given the mandate to represent Edo North in the Senate, he will ensure that cottage industries were established in all the 64 wards of the zone, stressing, “this project means that I will also establish six vocational training centres in the six local government areas that make up Edo North, so that our mothers, sisters and brothers can be trained in vocations and skill acquisition in agriculture, aquaculture and arts and craft. Products of these centres will access interest free loans from cooperatives and thrift societies that will be established in all the local governments that make up the senatorial zone.”
