TETFUND: Wike warns stakeholders

ABUJA—The federal government yesterday said it would not tolerate any act that will delay needed transformation of tertiary institutions in the country.

The Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, stated this at the interactive workshop organised by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, on its guidelines for accessing intervention funds by benefiting institutions.

The Minister, who was represented by the Director of Tertiary Educatio at the Education Ministry,  Mrs. Hindatu Abdullahi, said the workshop was organised to allow both the TETFund and its benefiting institutions the opportunity to reach agreeable shifting ground and present better means of accessing the fund.

He said: “I want to state clearly that it takes years for investment into education to manifest and the Federal Government will not condone any act that will delay the much needed transformation of the tertiary institutions in the country as is being championed through the transformative interventions of TETFund.

“This Workshop is a serious business as the outcome of the meeting must start to make immediate positive change in the way we access and utilise TETFund interventions.

“The meeting is expected to address the problems that tertiary institutions face in the quest to accessing allocations from the TETFund.”
