ABEOKUTA—Ogun State  students in different higher institutions across the country under the aegis of National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS, yesterday, protested alleged non-payment of outstanding bursary.
The protest was also against fees hike in the state-owned tertiary institutions.

The students, who defied the early morning rain, protested peacefully to the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, demanding payment of their bursary.

They were accompanied by a detachment of riot policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services.

The protesters numbering about 200, carried placards with various inscriptions such as ‘Enough is Enough, Governor Amosun pay our bursary’, ‘Don’t ignore us, we deserve recognition’, ‘Amosun, why delaying our bursary? ‘, ‘All we are saying, pay us our bursary’, among others.

Leading the protest, national chairman, NAOSS, Bolaji Sanni, claimed they had not been paid their bursary since inception of the Amosun administration , adding that those who earned scholarship within same period were yet to be given.

He said, “Since inception of this administration, we have not been paid  our bursary. The same thing obtains for those among us who are qualified for scholarship.”
