LAGOS—NATIONAL chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun yesterday took a swipe at the alleged impunity being perpetrated by state governments under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in their respective states.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos on the state of the nation, Fasehun, said; “It is clear that in all these cases, the APC is on rampage and on a war of attrition against democracy and the common man. Be it in Edo, Adamawa, Lagos, Ekiti or Osun State, APC is behaving like a bull in a china shop, trampling on citizens’ rights and Nigerians must control this party’s reign of impunity.”
Commenting on the impasse in the Edo State House of Assembly, he said “the Governor’s interference in the on-going leadership tussle in the State House of Assembly is an abuse of the separation of powers doctrine that is the hallmark of democracy universally.”
Fasehun, who is also founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, faulted the imposition of a N27,000 levy on commercial bus operators by the Lagos State government describing the policy as a “clear misplacement of priorities.”
