Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Eugene Odoh, said yesterday, that corruption and stealing have assumed an endemic height in the country, noting that the vices had permeated the entire public and private sectors.

Nigeria is fast becoming a dumping ground for fake and substandard building and home furnishing materials. These substandard materials are usually imported from China and other Asian and European countries by unscrupulous Nigerian businessmen and their foreign collaborators. The rising occurrence of buildings collapse and fire disasters in the country, are directly linked to the utilisation of these fake or adulterated building components.

The Turkish government has donated a warship to the Nigerian Navy and other defence personnel in Lagos, as part of measures to boost the nation’s security on water and protection it’s territorial integrity.
