The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that Abia State was weeping and in dire need of emancipation.

The interim chairman of APC in Abia State, Dr. Maxwell Adindu, who stated this shortly after the election for the state interim executive of the party, said with the calibre of members elected to supervise affairs of the party, there was hope that Abia would soon been emancipated.

In statement issued in Abuja by the interim publicity secretary, Dr. Onyeloha Chukwumerije, the interim chairman expressed delight in the confidence reposed in them by the party faithful in the state, describing the executive committee as tested politicians with impeccable records and achievements.

He said: “So much is expected of us, and so much we shall deliver. This state is controlled by tested and rugged politicians – those that the people trust to deliver dividends of democracy.”

“Those people are here today in APC. Abia state is weeping for emancipation and demonstration of good governance. Come 2015, this state will get the administration it deserves. It is a promise we shall deliver,” he said.

Dr. Adindu described as good omen and a development which was due long ago, the recent move by five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress.

He said:   “We expected the move by the governors long ago. We are happy they have seen the light. It is evidence that the days of PDP in the state and in Nigeria are numbered.  We are calling on what is remaining of the party not to waste further time to join the APC..”

The interim publicity secretary said the election of interim exco at an enlarged and massively attended meeting at the party secretariat in Umuahia was in compliance with a directive by the national secretariat of the party that all state chapters should elect interim officers to steer the affairs of the party, pending congresses.

The five-member officers are Dr Max Ndukwe Adindu (Chairman), Barr. Pedro Madumere (Secretary), Dr Onyeloha Chukumerije (Publicity Secretary), Chief Goodluck Ogbonna (Organizing Secretary) and Mr. Omen Olujie (Treasurer).

The election, according to the statement, was witnessed by some national officers of the party as well as senior chieftains of the legacy party All Progressive Congress, including Acho Obioma, Godswill Nwankpa, Mr Nath Ikeocha, and Chief Francis Egu.
