Chief Segun Odegbami
Former Green Eagles forward Segun Odegbami was thrilled with the Super Eagles’ performance on Sunday as their 2-1 win in Ethiopia left them on the verge of a place at the 2014 World Cup finals.
A second-half brace from Emmanuel Emenike cancelled out Samson Asefa’s opener in Addis Ababa to take two vital away goals back to the Eagles Nest in Calabar ahead of the second leg on October 16.
And Odegbami, part of the national team setup between 1976 and 1982, was delighted with the side’s turnaround, which marked a new record of 27 World Cup qualifiers without defeat for the Eagles.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria: “It was a fantastic display of soccer by Coach Stephen Keshi-led national team.
They played up to my expectation.
“Surely, Nigeria is unstoppable in the qualification struggle for the Brazil 2014 World Cup tournament.”
