The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP also reacted to the plane crash and asked the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah not to be deterred in her efforts in the aviation sector following the incident.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh the party however assured Nigerians of Oduah’s competence to handle the matter.
”We expect the aviation authorities to live up to their billing and not be deterred by the accident. The safety of Nigerians must be paramount at all times and must not be compromised in any way.
The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has thanked Nigerians for their outpouring of grief and concerns over Thursday’s Lagos plane crash which affected the family, friends and well wishers of former minister and PDP governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Agagu.
”This is even as the party expressed confidence in the ability of the aviation authority as presently constituted to unravel the cause of the accident and ensure maximum safety in the nation’s airspace.
“We earnestly thank Nigerians for the outpouring of grief, prayers and concerns since the occurrence of this accident. It is a devastating tragedy that calls for soul searching and fervent prayers to the Almighty God.
“A lot of advancements have been made in the aviation sector under this administration and we are confident that this accident will not constitute a set-back to the progress so far achieved.
“While it is noted that air crashes occur all over the world, the party expect the aviation authorities to maximize the innovations so far initiated and implemented in the sector to ensure that we achieved
maximum safety rate in the industry.”
