Bishop warns against acquisition of ill-gotten wealth

Bishop of the Diocese of the Coast, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Bishop Ebunoluwa Ogunele has warned against acquisition of ill-gotten wealth by politicians in the country.

Ogunele spoke during a funeral service for Dr Agagu at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Iju-Odo in Okitipupa Council Area of the state, noting that nobody takes any of the ill gotten wealth along with him  when dying.

The Bishop said that Agagu lived a modest life without any ill-gotten wealth in Akure , Lagos or Abuja just like two of his predecessors, the late Adebayo Adefarati and Bamidele Olomilua.

”If Agagu had acquired wealth illegally, none of his properties would have been buried with him today. What remains with him is his faith in Jesus Christ. Our politicians should stop stealing public funds because the day they die, their certificates expire. Whatever you have would be lost when you are dead.

”God does not recognise title or wealth. We do not know when death will come. If you do not have time to serve God but you have time to acquire wealth illegally, you will die one day and you will have to face your maker,’’ he said.
