ONITSHA—The All Progressive Congress, APC in Anambra State, yesterday, raised alarm over alleged plot by a political party in the state in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to disenfranchise voters in areas where such parties have strong voting strength.
The Director-General of the Chris Ngige campaign Organization, Chief George Moghalu made this known while addressing newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital yesterday.
He said the party had ‘’uncovered a grand plan by a government funded party to frustrate APC by making sure that electoral materials were not delivered on time at designated polling units during the November 16 governorship election.’’
Besides, Moghalu said there was also a plot to ensure that election did not hold in their electoral strong-holds by employing thugs to chase voters away from polling units.
”There is also the issue of the destruction of our bill boards and posters. But the fact remains that nobody has the monopoly of violence. Nobody should take us for granted because we have the capacity to resist any form of intimidation and harassment.
’’This election is not about Senator Chris Ngige as a person but about Anambra State; returning our state to the part of greatness by salvaging it.
’’We have come into this race with a known brand that has been tested and is trusted by the Anambra people. Therefore we see ourselves as those everybody is struggling to beat in the contest. So, the APC is the party to beat in the November 16, governorship election.
”Again, we want to advise that anybody or group that has decided to frustrate us in this election should cave in because we will not fold our hands and watch them,” he said.
