Anambra: APGA candidacy: Okwu still fighting

Former factional chairman of APGA, Chief Maxi Okwu is not relenting in his battle to get INEC accept his nominee, Dr. Chike Obidigbo as his candidate for the November election.

Okwu had gone to the Federal High Court, Awka where he obtained an order to allow him submit the name of Obidigbo to INEC. The electoral umpire, however, did not see any justifiable reason to do so and Okwu is crying foul.

He said yesterday that he has gone to Court of Appeal to annul the order made by Justice Mohammed Salim of the Federal High Court in which he vacated an earlier order asking him (Okwu) to submit his candidate’s name to INEC.

Okwu said: “INEC employed all manner of tactics to stall the submission of Dr. Obidigbo’s name. They kept us waiting there nearly for two days until the court vacated the order. But our lawyers are dealing with the development.”
Meantime, Obidigbo has insisted that despite the battle for the ticket, APGA will win the election convincingly.
