BENIN – GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, has condemned what he called politics of tribalism being preached by the opposition in the state, saying that the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, would continue to preach the message of peace, unity and development in the state.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during ACN’s campaign in Afuze, Owan East Local Government Area and Sabongida Ora in Owan West Local Government Area of the state, said: “People of Edo State have the same ancestry and therefore we are one.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Charles Airhiavbere, is busy preaching ethnic politics and  disunity, ignorantly saying that because I am not a Bini man, I am not qualified to be the governor.”

He added that the PDP candidate had proved his ignorance on several issues, offering the people what they already have. “In January this year, we abolished the payment of school fees in primary and secondary schools, reduced the fees payable by students at Ambrose Alli University and provided free maternal care for women in government hospitals. But when the PDP candidate was campaigning, he said he was going to make education and maternal health care free for the people who are already enjoying them,” he said.

He maintained that PDP as a political party has no message, and worse, has no credible messenger, adding that the PDP had confessed that it failed in the past, promising not to fail again because it was a new PDP. “Who is the godfather of PDP in the past and who is still the godfather today. Nothing has changed,” he said.
