ABAKALIKI—EBONYI State Community and Social Development Agency, EB-CSDA, a World Bank-assisted project, Tuesday, disclosed that the state government has approved N50 million as part of its counterpart funding for micro projects in the state.
The World Bank project which include construction of roads, schools, market stalls, rural electrification, health centres, water projects among others, had substantially improved the lots of rural dwellers in the state since its inception three years ago.
The Chairman, Board of Directors of the agency, Mr. Onwe S. Onwe, made this known during the public presentation of the agency’s mid-term review report to stakeholders in Abakaliki.
Onwe, who noted that the scheme had led to the completion of over 32 micro projects in various local government areas of the state.
The General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Peter Mbam explained that over 70 rural communities in the state were benefitting from the Agency’s micro projects even as he enjoined other communities to key into the ongoing project so as to ensure equitable development across the state.
The ceremony which was well attended by various stakeholders including members of the Community Project Management Committee, CPMC, Community Development Officers, CDO, representatives of state Ministry of local government, local government Chairmen and Heads of Personnel Management as well as the media gathered to brainstorm on the activities of the Agency so far and way forward.
Some of the stakeholders at the meeting commended the Agency for its quality control and called for increased subvention to the Agency by local government areas.
