Bada’s death, a national tragedy – Minister of Police

BY CALEB AYANSINA, Abuja

MINISTER of Police Affairs, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade has described the death of international athlete and Olympian, Sunday Bada as a great loss, not only to his family but the Nigeria Police Force, the nation and the larger international sports fraternity.

Reacting to the sudden death of the renowned quarter miler, Olubolade described the late Police Superintendent as one of the few shinning lights of the Nigeria Police Force who brought honour and glory to his fatherland through his exploits at international sports.

In a statement by the Assistant Director (Press), James Odaudu, the Minister noted that the country needed officers like Sunday Bada to serve as role models to others, especially now that there exists an urgent need to redefine the Force’s public image in line with the on-going Reform Programme.

He calls on other officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to emulate positive examples of the likes of Bada and Chioma Ajunwa who combined sports and policing to serve their fatherland, promising that his contributions to the Nigeria Police and sports development will be given due recognition.
