Orodje intervenes in Sapele-Okpe leadership tussle

By Godwin Oghre

Sapele – The Orodge of Okpe Kingdom, Major-General Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), has intervened in the cross-fire between the incumbent Chairman of Sapele-Okpe community, Mr. Micheal Egbejule and Senator David Dafinone, who is chairman of Sapele-Okpe Land Trust Committee.

The men had been at daggers-drawn over who should be accorded foremost leadership rights of the community.

While Egbejule had insisted that by virtue of his election as the chairman of the community, he remains the administrative head of the community, Chief Dafinone had sought the dissolution of the community executive and appointment of an interim executive following what he said was the “administrative ineptitude and corruption on the part of the Egbejule-led administration.”

Following the disagreement, the Police and authorities of Sapele Local Government Area had tried to settle the issue.

It was, however, learnt that both men had commenced the processes of resolving their difference following the intervention, weekend, of their royal father, the Orodje, who, a source said, had ordered a cease-fire.
