AKURE—AFTER over two years, the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu Tuesday said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, regretted the loss of the state to the Labour Party, LP.

Dr. Agagu spoke in Akure at the inauguration of a nine-man transition committee to oversee the affairs of the party after the dissolution of the State Executive Committee of the party.

He equally lamented the poor performance of PDP at the last general elections.

The former governor said “the time has now come to chat a new way forward for the party and all hands must be on deck to regain the lost glory of the party.”

Agagu urged the new executive to  work hard to bring  back members of the party who left  for other parties.

The former governor asked the committee to equally work hard to woo members of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and LP back to the PDP, saying all new entrants must be welcomed.

He said leaders of the party in the state had sacrificed ego, money and efforts to achieve peace in the party.

The transition committee headed by Mr. Ebenezer Omotayo, a former Chairman of Akure North Local Government Area, will run the party pending the time the congresses of the party slated for March next year will hold.
