AKURE—THE former Finance Commissioner in the administration of the immediate past administration of Governor Olusegun Agagu of Ondo state, Chief Tayo Alasoadura who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party PDP last week has finally joined the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria ACN.
Chief Alasoadura who was the finance commissioner for six years dumped the PDP following his failure to realise his governorship ambition in the pary.
Report had it that he has been promised the seat by the leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu hence his defection.
It will be recalled that Alasoadura fell out with leaders of the PDP when he declared his governorship ambition few months after his boss Chief Agagu was kicked out of office by the verdict of the Court of Appeal in 2009.
Announcing his decision in his Iju country home, in Akure North Council area of the state Alasoadura said that he decided to dump the PDP because its leaders are not genuine democrats.
According to him “”I am no longer impressed by the leaders of the PDP, l decided with my followers to join the progressives in the south west.
“At a meeting held at my country home in Iju, in Akure North Local government area of Ondo State it was resolved that l and my teeming supporters across Ondo state should join the Action Congree of Nigeria ACN
“Consequent upon the resolution and wide consultation made across the board, especially with leaders of the PDP and members of my immediate family l wish to announce that l and my supporters across the state have finally decided top join the ACN .
“Principles and progressive politics is part of the Yoruba heritage and this has generated a lot of respect for our race. It is our belief therefore that there is an urgent need to join our brothers and sisters in the CAN in protecting this much cherished legacy.
“Furthermore, we in Ondo State need to join hands with our peers in Lagos, Oyo, Osun , Ogun, Ekiti and Edo state to ensure the enthronement of the ideology of progressivism and progressive government in the south west geo political zone.”
