In its effort to reach out to the society, Nigerite Limited joined other sponsors to bankroll the first edition of the Corporate Challenge Cup at the Ikeja Golf Club.
Apart from sponsoring, Nigerite also presented a team at the event, which started on Saturday and ended yesterday.
The 36-hole event, also had 14 other teams in attendance, all vying for the top prize.
Each team consisted of four players while other club members featured as guest on the opening day of the competition. Speaking at the event, Nigerite’s Executive director, marketing Arc. Toyin Gbede said that his outfit decided to be part of the event because of the need to create an avenue for busy executives, who do not have time to engage in recreational activities.
Gbede said that sports was crucial to healthy living, which propelled his company to be part of the Corporate Challenge Cup. “To us every sport is important but we are delving into golf to also contribute to the development of the sports and the well-being of the golfers. It also gives us an opportunity to widen our participation in sports because we already have a football team,” he added.
