ETF pins success to staff commitment

By Chris Ochayi, Abuja

THE Executive Secretary, Education Trust Fund, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has attributed the success recorded by the funds so far in the areas of provision of facilities and building of infrastructure across the nation’s institutions of learning to the commitment of the members of the staff to deliver on the mandate of the agency.

Prof. Yakubu who made the remarks in Abuja during the ceremony to honor eighteen members of staff who have put in 10 years of service to contribute to moving the fund to a greater height, said, the quantum of projects executed by the fund across the country attest to the level of commitment of staff of the fund.

He noted that even though the fund has less staff strength of a little over one hundred with one office complex in Abuja and no zonal or state offices, the members of staff go extra miles to ensure that ETF impact was felt across the country which was the reason those who have put in 10years of service to the fund were being remembered and honored.

According to him, the staff of the fund take great risk in their service delivery disclosing that from the time of the last long service award to some staff last year, ETF has lost three members of staff in ghastly motor accident in the cause of monitoring and inspection of ETF projects outside Abuja.

The ETF boss however noted that due to the hazards of the job, the fund provides group life insurance to members of staff for compensation to the families of staff in the eventuality of any serious damage or loss of life.

He stressed further that the ETF, in line with its core value of recognizing selfless service, commitment and loyalty to the organization had penciled down eighteen members of staff who have put in 10 years of service to contribute to moving the fund to a greater height.
