By Monsur Olowoopejo

LAGOS – Following bombings by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, in some parts of the country, Senator Gbenga Ashafa has said security agencies needed the support and cooperation of all Nigerians, saying the former could not fight insecurity alone.

Ashafa, who represents Lagos-East senatorial district in the Senate, made the remark at the commissioning of his four constituency offices in the district.

He stated that the role of Nigerians was to be on the alert to report any illicit act or suspicious movement and character to security agencies for appropriate action.

He said:  “The issue of Boko Haram can only be solved by over 140 million Nigerians. We should not leave it for the security agencies alone. We all have a role to play in nipping the activities of the Islamic set in the bud.”

On the present crops of  members in the National Assembly, NASS, Ashafa was of the view that their performance would surpass the achievements of the previous legislature in the country, adding that the quality of people who made up the NASS, especially the opposition, would give room for robust debate on issues affecting Nigerians.
