The incidents which occurred, Sunday, shortly after Dr.Emmanuel Uduaghan was sworn-in as the elected Governor of the state was allegedly made possible by the relaxed security situation in the oil city.

Authoritative security sources told Vanguard that a staff of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) identified as Tom Akhidime and one Solomon Enamajewan, a staff of Southern Gas Company (SGC) were abducted in operations that took place at Edjeba and Aladja.

Vanguard learnt that Akhidime was abducted at about 4.30 p.m. along Edjeba/Housing Complex road, while Enamejewan was kidnapped at about 3 p.m. on his way to Aladja in Udu Local Government Area to visit a relation.

What is not immediately clear is whether both operations were executed by the same gang.

Enamejewan abductors are said to have established contact with his estranged wife, Philo demanding for a N15 million ransom.

Said the source; “Philo, the wife of Enamejewan had been contacted by the kidnappers through her husband’s mobile phone demanding for N15 million. The woman is confused as to what to do now”.
