*As US ambassador lauds corps members on April poll

ABUJA – The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, has said unless all security agencies go to the drawing board and tackle the issue of insecurity in the country, innocent lives will continue to be lost.
This came as National Youth Council of Nigerian, NYCN, Mr. James Ajani, called on the Federal Government to offer automatic employment to all the corps members that participated in the 2011 April polls, as a mark of honor for their colleagues killed during the elections.
Tsiga, who spoke yesterday while receiving the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Terrence McCulley, in his office, said scrapping the scheme would not solve the problem of insecurity and unemployment in the country.
He described Nigerians attacking the scheme as the enemies of the future of Nigerian youths, saying “let Nigerians be talking about the criminals who committed this act.”
Tsiga said efforts were on to evacuate all corps members not indigenes of Bauchi State and were willing to leave the state to ensure their safety.
“All corps members experiencing security threats in any part of the country will be redeployed,” he added On Sheikh Lemu-led committee set up to unravel the mystery behind the crises in Bauchi, Tsiga said the NYSC was ready with a bulky report to send to the committee .
“I have already compiled my report, which we are ready to present any time, any day,” the NYSC boss said.
He called on corps members with information that could help to make the work of the committee easier to feel free to forward their submissions.
In his remark, the US Ambassador, condoling with the NYSC over the death of 10 corps members in Bauchi State, commended the corps members for a job well-done during the general elections.
