AHEAD of the composition of the Executive Council of the Federation and the leadership of the National Assembly, traditional rulers from the South East zone will meet in Enugu as part of moves to review the situation, take far-reaching decisions and come up with a position.

UGANDAN President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has won another six-year term to add to the 24 years he has been the country’s maximum ruler. Rioters are resisting him, but he lives above reality, boasting of new laws that will chain the opposition and deny bails to rioters. He claims he will not be forced out of office.

THE Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, is moving to quiet the rebellion amongst its members in the next House of Representatives by altering the proposed zoning formula for the sharing of offices. The party’s move follows the seeming failure of Vice-President Nnamadi Sambo to assuage the feelings of the members-elect during a weekend meeting.

THE National Assembly has been urged to take a second look at the Electoral Act with a view to strengthening the democratic process. Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, who spoke, weekend, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the presentation of Certificate of Return to Governor Chibuike Amaechi of the state and those elected for various National and State Houses of Assembly seats, challenged the recipients to come up with the right policies that would promote the common good.

The Judicial panel of inquiry constituted by the National Judicial Council, NJC, to investigate the face-off between the Chief Justice of the Nigeria, CJN, Justice Alloysius Katsina-Alu and the President of the Court of Appeal, PCA, Justice Isa Ayo Salami has failed to meet the deadline for the submission of its report.
