Suspected thugs attack Bauchi ACN guber candidate

By Suzan Edeh
BAUCHI  –   ONE person was confirmed killed and seven others seriously injured, yesterday,  after an attack on the campaign team of Bauchi State Action Congress of Nigeria, AC N,  gubernatorial candidate, Senator Baba Tela in Giade.

Briefing newsmen over the incident, the AC N gubernatorial candidate running mate, Mallam Ali Wakili, and the media adviser to Senator Baba Tela,  Nasiru Ibrahim Darazo said: ”The thugs burnt down five  of our vehicles and attacked us indiscriminately, until policemen came to our rescue. We had to hasten our campaign rally and leave the town to avoid more casualties.”

Corroborating, Mr. Nasiru said they had given the Bauchi State government and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, whom he accused of  sponsoring the thugs, five days to pay them compensation or face necessary action.

Confirming the incident, the Bauchi State Police Commissioner Mohammed Abdulkadir Indabawa said when they were informed about the incident, he advised them to report the matter to the Giade police station for necessary action.

Reacting, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sani Al’amin Mohammed and the adviser Political to Governor Isa Yuguda Abdulmumini Mohammed Kundak,  said that PDP and state government had no hand in the attack because “government sponsored a bye law that prohibited use of weapons during campaign and the law still exists.

It  is mischief for the AC N to blame the PDP and the state government over what happened to them and they have forgotten that there are three gubernatorial aspirants from Bauchi North, which includes AC N, ANPP and CPC.

They are all from the zone.  So, why are they blaming PDP if they are sincere, they will report to security agencies, investigate and arrest whoever is responsible for the attack”. Kundak said.
