National chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, Lisa Olu Akerele, has expressed regret at the recent utterance by Obasanjo during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential rally in Lagos where the former President was quoted as saying that he would resist if PDP did not win the April elections.

The PPA national chairman said he was disappointed with the stance of Obasanjo who had introduced the ill-fated do-or-die politics during the 2007 general elections, noting that this approach to politics had led to the quagmire Nigeria is currently embroiled in.

He maintained that it was regrettable that election results were “still pending in the courts at the dying hours of the current tenure due to the desperado of the apostles of do-or-die politics.”

Akerele pointed out that at the present level of his political growth, Obasanjo should have been a father to all persons no matter their party leaning.

“It is disappointing that even within the confines of his party cleavage, Obasanjo still takes sides such that in his primordial Ogun State home, he is wedged in a bitter battle for relevance with the governor,” he noted.
