Gunmen kill one in Bayelsa

By SAMUEL OYADONGHA, YENAGOA
Armed gunmen, Friday night, attacked riverside Ayama community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State killing one person.

The gunmen, believed to be pirates, were said to have stormed  the community waterfront shooting indiscriminately when a flying bullet hit a woman.

Though information about the incident was still hazy at press time, sources told Sunday Vanguard that the gunmen were believed to have stormed  the waterfront to steal speedboats when some community folks accosted them not knowing they were armed.

The invaders were said to have opened fire killing the woman in the process before beating a quick retreat into the creek.

Efforts to get the comment of the state police public relations officer, Mr. Eguavoen Emokpae, proved abortive as his line was not going through.
