President Jonathan appoints new registrar for NABTEB

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has approved the appointment of Dr. Francis Olatunde Awotokun Aworanti as the Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

According to a letter signed by the Hon. Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai, the appointment which takes effect from the 14th of February, 2011, is for a period of four years in the first instance and may be renewed for another period of four years. Until his appointment, Dr. Aworanti was the Acting Registrar of the Board, a position he has held since the retirement of the former Registrar, Prof David Awanbor in July 2010.

Dr. Aworanti who joined NABTEB in 1996 as Chief Research Officer rose through the ranks – serving in various capacities as Head, Department of Monitoring Research and Statistics, Head, Registrar’s Office and Director of Administration – to the status of the most Senior Director.

A Doctor of Science Education from the University of Ilorin, Dr. Aworanti’s educational career began at the Holy Michael Primary School Ikirun, and saw him through Oke Iragbiyi Grammar School, Iragbiyi, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo – where he bagged the National Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1980 – and, was crowned with a Bachelor of Science in Education & Biology, Master of Education (M.Ed) and a Doctoral degree (Ph.D), all at the University of Ilorin, in 1995.

An Astute Researcher and Administrator, Dr. Aworanti is a member of the Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN), Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA), the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) and a host of others.

He is happily married with children.
