OWERRI—The bishop of Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Professor Emmanuel Iheagwam, has described President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as”a good presidential material that should have the support of all Nigerians.”
Professor Iheagwam made his feelings known in a 38-paged presidential address he delivered at the third session of the fifth synod held at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Umualum, Nekede, Owerri West local council area of Imo State.
“The reforms he has introduced within a short period are eloquent testimonies of his capability. Long queues in our petrol stations have become a thing of the past,” the bishop said.
Noting that there was great improvement in electricity supply, Professor Iheagwam also informed the laity that the president’s electoral reforms were quite commendable.
Addressing the continued industrial action in state-owned universities in the South East geo-political zone, the Anglican cleric said it was sad that they had remained under lock for too long.
“The losses incurred over this period cannot be quantified. Running universities is very capital intensive. It is better not to establish any than to establish and starve it of funds,” Iheagwam said.
