Spurred by recent security threats, the Nigeria Police has enhanced the standard and quality of intelligence gathering of its personnel, as it trains over 163 officers in intelligence and security, at the Nigeria Army Intelligence School.

The officers, who were between the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and constable, received courses on both Basic Criminal Intelligence and Advance Criminal Intelligence for three weeks.

The Commandant, Police College Ikeja, who was represented by  ACP Supo  Ajani, at the graduation ceremony said: “The essence of this training is for a better policing and it will strengthen the relationship between the Police and the Army.”

He also said the  new  acting Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim,  wants to  bring back the  old Central Intelligence Bureau of the Police. The Commandant said: “He (Ringim) wants a more intelligence-driven Police, where the Police can prevent certain incident from happing rather than waiting before  it happens.”

Assuring that the newly trained officer will deliver the desired result, ACP Supo, said: “As intelligences officers, they have got to be under-covers. We have over 163 of them who participated in this training  and they are between the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police to Constable.

“They were selected from various parts of the federation. I am confident this  training will change the face of the Nigeria Police.”
