CALABAR—CROSS River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, has assured Bakassi returnees at Ekpri Obutong resettlement camp in Bakassi Local Government Area, of the state government’s assistance to make life comfortable for them.
Governor Imoke, who was on a working visit to the area, weekend, said that government would look into their plight by providing them water, electricity, health centre and financial assistance. The Governor, accompanied by his Deputy, Mr. Efiok Cobham and the Director-General State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr. Vincent Aqua, urged the returnees to send their children to the nearby primary school.
He also directed the chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Mr. Saviour Nyong, to supply the pupils with books and uniforms.
Imoke said that though state government could not give all of them money to start businesses, government would look into their plight by creating a reliable programme for them.
