Some chieftains of the Peoples Demo-cratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli-North, Delta State have written to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to protest the ward and local government congresses in the area, which they said did not follow due process.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, congress did not eventually hold yesterday in Imo State.

The ward congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, conducted in most states of the country, yesterday, passed uneventfully with the notable exception of Ogun and Osun states. In Ogun, party members and regulatory electoral institutions split into three factions across the 236 wards in the state. The ward congresses are the first steps in the election of principal officers of the PDP at the ward, local government, state, zonal and national levels.

Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, was elected senator for Ekiti Central Senatorial District in 2011 on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and later became one of the All Progressives Congress, APC Senators in the National Assembly after the merger before the 2015 polls.

The National Executive Committee, NEC, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday approved the retention of the chairmanship of the party to the North, setting the stage for continuation of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in office.
