IBADAN—THINGS appear to be falling apart within the camp of the new kings installed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State as one of them, the Ekerin Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, made a sudden u-turn on the decision of the monarchs to suspend the local government allowances of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

THE Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1, said yesterday, that the recent decision of one of the new kings to release his 11-month local government allowances was an “afterthought calculated to prevent backlash of their unlawful action.”

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, yesterday explained that he would celebrate his 90th birthday anniversary on August 26 this year because his late father who died in 1989 did not live up to 90 years.

THE royal crisis between Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 and members of Olubadan in council deteriorated Wednesday as the monarch described the decision of the new kings to stop his monthly local salary as “disgraceful”.

THE new kings installed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, yesterday, confirmed that they were responsible for the stoppage of the monthly salary of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and not the state government as being insinuated.

THE Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, yesterday, expressed satisfaction with the compliance to his directive banning masquerade dance in the family compounds of new kings installed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.

DESPITE the directive by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji that masquerade dance was banned in the compounds of his members of Obas-in-Council, the yearly ritual dance took place in defiance to the directive.
