Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has demanded for the immediate reversal of the new electricity tariff which took effect on July 1, saying it is killing the people and the economy.

“The process for arriving at a national minimum wage comprises three parties, which is labour, employers, and government. The government is currently playing a dual role of being the employer as well.” 

THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and its Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart, have expressed concerns  over the inability of contributors to access the initial 25 per cent of their total contributions into the Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS as stipulated by the Law.

The International Trade Union Confederation, ITUC, representing 191 million workers in 169 countries and territories, with 340 national affiliates, including the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has released its 2024 Global Rights Index, indicting Nigeria.

Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and the joint Committee on Power, National, Planning and Economic Development, Commerce, and Delegated  Legislation, on Tuesday condemned the decision of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) over failure to appear for a public hearing on the recent increase in electricity tariff.
