Following cases of fake certification recently detected by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination boards in Kenya and Uganda have written the federal government to verify records presented by Nigerian candidates seeking admissions into tertiary institutions in their respective countries.

Authorities of several universities in Kenya and Uganda are seeking confirmation from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on certificates presented by Nigerian candidates seeking admissions into tertiary institutions in their countries.

In 2019, Adisa, other names withheld, was given admission to study Accountancy by the then Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH. He was to attend classes at the Isolo Campus of the institution.

The Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has cautioned parents of admission seekers into Nigerian universities against age falsification of their children and wards in an attempt to meet the 18-year minimum age requirement, warning that by doing so, they’re pushing the children into the world of corruption and crimes.

Again,the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB,has said it would not offer admission to candidates below the age of 16 years in its 2024/2025 admission session.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the list of the top scorers for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

After protest that greeted his decision to benchmark entry year into tertiary institutions in the country to 18 years, Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has rescinded the decision.

Mamman, who was restating his earlier position that candidates below 18 were responsible for crises in the nation’s universities, received open protests from participants at the event. 

The stage is now set for admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions as the long awaited 2024 policy meeting held annually by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination, JAMB, holds this week.
