National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, has called on the Presidency and the National Assembly to urgently do what is necessary for the take- off of the Nigerian Maritime University by changing the name of the location from Okerenkoko to that of the original owner of the land, Okerenghigho.

THE  Ologbotsere (Prime Minister) of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has lamented that the current Delta State Government, led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has allegedly neglected the Itsekiri ethnic nationality in terms of development in the last two years.  

Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change, NDIMRC and some Ijaw leaders, weekend, expressed divergent views over the recent memo by Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to the National Assembly that correct location of the proposed Nigerian Maritime University, NMU, is Okerenghigho, and not Okerenkoko.

Delta LG polls: Itsekiri, Ijaw strengthen bond of unity

ITSEKIRI in Warri South-West Local Government Area  of Delta State have appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership in the state, particularly the Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, to discountenance recent allegations by some Itsekiri accusing Otuaro of imposing a chairmanship candidate on them in the forthcoming council elections.
