MARKETERS have expressed optimism that they would be able to lift premium motor spirit (also known as petrol) directly from Dangote Refinery as scarcity of the product persists across the country.

With the deal making NNPC Limited the sole off-taker of petrol from Dangote Refinery effectively locking them out of the supply chain, marketers have said they may have to resort to importation in order to continue in business.

More controversy has emerged in the execution of sale-purchase deal on premium motor spirit, otherwise known as petrol, between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, and Dangote Refinery.

Hopes for a potential reduction in petrol prices, following the commencement of supply from Dangote Refinery, were dashed, yesterday, as NNPC Limited released a new pricing template that raised pump prices by about 11 per cent to N950 per litre.
