Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, has resigned as the Minority Leader of the 8th Senate.

SENATE caucus of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun moves to replace Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom North-West) and regretted not getting rid of him earlier.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning a massive ceremony to receive defecting minority senate leader Godswill Akpabio on August 9.

Amidst media report that Senate Minority Leader and former governor of Akwa Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio is set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it is doing everything possible to retain his membership.
