Why we retained interest rate at 27.5% – CBN

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has retained the country’s benchmark interest rate at 27.50 per cent for the second consecutive time in 2025.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Olayemi Cardoso to “immediately disclose whether the bank has commenced the direct disbursement of allocations to the 774 local government councils in Nigeria from the Federation Account with the CBN and to widely publish the amounts, if any, so far directly sent to each of the councils.”

CBN records 41.3% decline in loss to N680.62bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN recorded a 41.3 percent year-on-year, YoY decline in loss to N680.62 billion loss in the financial year ending December 31st 2024  from N1.16 trillion loss recorded in 2023.
