Yar’Adua receives Pele, announces sports dev plan

Pele, who was the toast of everyone at the State House, was one of the members of a delegation of the International Olympic Committee which was led by its President, Mr. Jacques Rogge, on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria leader.
Speaking at the occasion, Yar’Adua said the Federal Government would implement a comprehensive sports development programme in the country.

Obisia pleads for boxing

National boxing coach, Obisia Nwankpa, has attributed the failure of Nigeria in amateur boxing in recent times to lack of international exposure. He said that for Nigeria to bounce back to her winning ways in boxing there must be a conscious effort on the part of the Nigerian Boxing Federation, NBF, to organise foreign training tours and competitions to expose our young talents.
