A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has awarded a penalty of N20 million as damages against some officials of the Lagos State government for wrongful detention, beating one Alhaji Adisa Adewale and the demolition of his property in Shangisa/Magodo area of the state.

The assassination came on a day the Federal Government announced the appointment of Ogbonnaya Onovo, as the nation’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP) shows the enormous task before the new Police helmsman.

The call was made, weekend, by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Youth Association of Nigeria, Lagos Branch during a press conference to mark this year’s Youth Week with the theme: “(Gross) Multiplying diverts you” aimed at raising fund for the youth empowerment project.

The Deputy Chairman House of Representatives committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes Mr. Bassey Etim has cautioned against the impeachment of President Umaru Yar’Adua by the National assembly, saying doing so would still not lead to full implementa-tion of the 2009 Appropria-tion Act.

Chairman of the Lagos Zone of PENGASSAN, Comrade Folorunso Oginni, told Vanguard that the management had provoked the workers to the limit of their patience and vowed that should the management continue to play pranks with the future of workers, the leadership of PENGASSAN would have no order choice than to direct the workers to shut down all operations both down and upstream until the matter is resolved.
