By Abdulwahab Abdulah Youths from Ndokwa area of  Delta State, under the auspice of Ndokwa Youths Congress (NYC), have said granting amnesty to Niger Delta militants will not solve the problems confronting the region if the Federal Government fails to provide amenities that would improve the lives of the people of the area.

“Believe me, the present crisis we have in the Niger-Delta is as a result of the mismanagement of the funds from the region and I think this one is another step in that direction and by the time you go and establish such an institution in the North, the youths will be angry with the federal government”

The NBA, Warri branch in its petition, dated July 3, signed by the chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the branch, Gweke Akudihor, and alternate chairman, Ojo Abijogun, also urged the Commissioner (FEDSARS), to investigate the activities and actions of the affected policemen and bring them to book, as their conduct did not represent the rules of engagement of the Nigeria Police Force.

Mafiana, who gave the advice yesterday in Asaba while receiving members of the newly inaugurated caretaker committee of Accord Party members on a courtesy visist to his office, also called for patience and understanding on their part.

He said the youths particularly those from Delta State, should key into the empowerment programmes of the state government so as to empower themselves economically.
